Sometimes I sit and think about why I like fishing… why can’t I give up? Why do I like to stay days, weeks, sometimes even longer, on the shore of a lake, in the rain and in the wind or snow…
Until I find the answer, I will try, in short, to tell you the latest ‘fishing story’… and when I tell a story I do not mean flourishing stories… but something cut from a story.
Two weeks ago, together with my colleagues, Andi, Soso and DAN we set off for the already famous lake Zajarki in Croatia. We thought we would not find any place available, but the weather kept up with us made almost all the fishermen on the lake go home insa but we were moving forward even if we could barely keep the car on the road.
Arriving well and helped by Geoff Anderson’s clothes, we managed to settle in, although the wind was still blowing hard and we still had rain showers. The fish did not feed exactly as they should but through work, we managed to have a game like I never thought possible.
Compared to the number of big fish, it was the best match I had: 5 carp over 30 kg, plus 30 carp over 20 kg !!! Not to mention the colleagues on the right, who, besides 20+ or 30+ carps, managed to catch the biggest fish in the lake !!!
Next I will let the pictures speak… you know very well that we do not talk much but the results. And if we keep talking about pictures, I invite you to pay attention to the expression on the faces of each of us… and I think I found the answer to the question ‘ What do I like about fishing? ‘
We will add more photos on the official Facebook and Instagram pages.
Although the conditions were not among the best, the start was a promising one. A beautiful common carp of 37.46 kg, from the first hours of fishing.
There were others, smaller, starting with a collection of over 20.
Motivated by the good start, we started working in the hope that we will be able to ‘start’ them
I used a mixture of ‘THE BASE’ and ‘COMPLETE’ for swimming, the two available foam mixes. In addition, I added soluble and hard boilies of different sizes and boiled corn.
It was time for Andi to break his personal record. In the picture with a beautiful 30.16 kg specimen.
But who leaves to Andi ?! I also score… still ‘mirror’… but bigger… 33.12 kg.
Heavy baits and extremely hardy fish. Consequently, we chose quality equipment. Both for fishing and for bait we used DudiBait MISTER LINE as the main thread and DudiBait MISTER BRAID as the forerunner.
The rigs were not very complex either. I mostly used Balanced Critical Hook Boilies in combination with Pop-up and Mister Dudi soluble Boilies of 20 or 24.
Andi once again breaks his record… 30.60kg.
But I don’t give up either and I manage to catch the 5th over 30kg. But these were just us. On the right side, our colleagues were also put on big deeds (carps)!
Soso manages to capture a beautiful 32.5 kg specimen.
Meanwhile, DAN (Mr. Good Luck) was working hard, motivated by the fulfillment of a dream. He fulfilled it long before anyone could conceive. After 20 hours of fishing. But I left him behind… because he didn’t so… the winner climbs last on the podium!
DAN !!! Along with VERTIGO !!! Catch of the fishing part… 41.04 kg !!!
It’s hard to describe in words what emotions were experienced in those moments!
Everyone wanted a picture of the capture… including me. I have to admit it was one of the fish I came here for. I had the opportunity to hold Vertigo, after 4 years since I caught it for the first time, now almost 10 kg heavier !!!
With such colleagues and with such RESULTS, I have to learn photography! Congratulations DAN !!!
And now, at the end, I leave it to you to admire our expressions and you will surely understand why NO ONE can stop fishing. Especially ‘When the results speak for themselves’!
